Passaic County Technical-Vocational Schools (PCTVS) proudly celebrated the graduation of 1,064 students from Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) and the PCTI STEM Academy during commencement ceremonies held on June 23 and June 24. Most notably, the district achieved a 100% graduation rate for the third consecutive year, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to academic excellence, career readiness, and ensuring every student is prepared for success beyond high school.
The celebrations began on Tuesday, June 23, as 246 graduates of the PCTI STEM Academy crossed the stae. Representing the academy's Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways in Computer Science, Engineering, and Biomedical and Life Sciences, graduates leave equipped with the technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experiences needed to thrive in some of today's fastest-growing and most innovative industries.
On Wednesday, June 24, 818 graduates from Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) received their diplomas, representing the district's broad range of CTE programs spanning the skilled trades, health sciences, business, technology, public service, and the arts. Throughout their time at PCTI, students developed both academic excellence and real-world experience through industry partnerships, internships, work-based learning opportunities, and career-focused instruction that prepares them to excel in college, careers, and beyond.
The Class of 2026 also had the opportunity to hear from four outstanding student leaders who represented their classmates during the commencement ceremonies.
At Passaic County Technical Institute, Valedictorian Sarina Nushrat of the Academy of Information Technology and Salutatorian Hrystyna Khrupalo of the Academy of Criminal Justice reflected on the experiences, friendships, and perseverance that defined their high school journey while encouraging their classmates to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
At the PCTI STEM Academy, Valedictorian Avi Shah and Salutatorian Gavin Wong, both of the Engineering Academy, shared messages centered on innovation, resilience, and the limitless potential of the graduating class as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives. Avi will continue his education at Harvard University, while Gavin will attend University of Pennsylvania.
Many graduates from the Class of 2026 will continue their education at colleges and universities across the nation, including some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, such as Harvard University, Yale University, and Princeton University. Others have committed to serving the nation through military service, while several earned appointments to distinguished service academies, including the United States Military Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Many graduates will also enter the workforce with valuable industry certifications and professional licenses, beginning careers in the skilled trades and technical fields they have spent years mastering through Career and Technical Education.
