Manya Rana

We are proud to celebrate Manya Rana, a senior in the Biomedical and Life Sciences program at PCTI’s STEM Academy, for being selected as a Governor’s STEM Scholar—a prestigious statewide honor recognizing New Jersey’s most talented high school and college students who are passionate about advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The 2025–2026 class of Governor’s STEM Scholars includes 101 high school and college students from 19 New Jersey counties who are gaining hands-on research experience, mentorship, and exposure to leading scientists and industry professionals. The program equips participants with the skills and connections to become future innovators and leaders in science and technology. When they graduate in May 2026, they will join an alumni network of more than 1,000 scholars and professionals driving progress across New Jersey and beyond.

Manya serves as President of PCTI’s HOSA chapter, leading service projects, competitions, and activities for nearly 300 members. She has also been a freshman mentor and class representative, helping younger students transition successfully into the STEM Academy. Beyond school, she is the Co-Chief Executive of Speak Strong, a student-led organization empowering underrepresented voices through literacy and communication programs for low-income children.

Reflecting on her experience applying to the program, Manya shared, “I had to write an essay and make a video about an innovation I’d bring into the world and why it mattered. I focused on improving research and making it more accessible because that’s one of the most important ways we can move society forward.”

As part of the program, she participates in research projects and attends conferences exploring the intersection of science, technology, and public policy. “We attend sessions and panels with leaders from universities like Princeton who teach us about topics such as nuclear energy and STEM’s connection to government,” she said. “It’s a lot of networking and hands-on learning.”

Looking ahead, Manya plans to pursue a career in healthcare or medical research, continuing her commitment to science and her passion for advancing equity and leadership in her community.
